Mary Lou Muckenfus Barger Blake
BURLINGTON
Mrs. Blake passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Morningside Assisted Living in Concord at the age of 80. She went to stay with the Lord peacefully with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
Mary Lou was born in High Point, Aug. 26, 1931. She was the daughter of Mr. A.S. and Pearl Muckenfuss.
She is survived by her son, Billy Ray Barger, Jr.; his wife, Jean; two granddaughters and three great-grand-children. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, A.S. Muckenfuss, Jr.; her son, Richard Louis Barger, and the father of her two children, Billy Ray Barger, Sr. and her latest husband, Herman E. Blake, of Aiken, S.C.
Mary Lou was caregiver to her mother and Mr. Blake for many years. She was an avid Christian and a current member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church in Burlington. From 1974 until her retirement in 1986, Mary Lou worked in the employee management Human Resources Department of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
The funeral arrangements were conducted by Rich and Thompson of Burlington and a graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Alamance Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church, 302 Logan Street, Burlington, NC 27215. Online condolences may be made at [email protected]
