Leonard Samuel Jensen was born Aug. 12, 1907, the son of Gilbert and Susanna Jensen, in Edinburg, where he grew up and attended school. He attended Aaker's Business College, Grand Forks and then the University of Minnesota College of Mortuary Science. He worked for his father in Jensen Hardware and Jensen Funeral Home in Edinburg. He married Bertha Sundvor Oct. 20, 1928, in Edinburg. He purchased the funeral home after his father died. He retired in 1972. He was active in the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association and North Dakota State Board of Embalmers. He was an assessor and notary public for Edinburg and served on the City Council.
Survivors are his wife; daughter, Leona (Mrs. Arthur) Zastera, Bottineau, N.D.; sons, Gilbert Jensen, Plymouth, Minnesota and Leslie Jensen, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal (Mrs. Herbert) Gemmill, Edinburg, N.D.; Aileen (Mrs. George) Kerestes, Grand Forks, N.D.; Dorothy (Mrs. Martin) Weysinger, Northridge, California; a brother, Clarence Jensen, Cavalier, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Cora and Alda.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 1992, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg.
Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery Edinburg.
