Addis, age 93, died at Chanute Healthcare Center. He was the son of Ephraim and Cora Mae (Drake) Messersmith. He graduated from Tyro (KS) High School in 1935. He married Mildred Comstock Hughes on September 4, 1946, in Independence, Kansas. He retired from Montgomery County Bridge and Road after 34 years. Survivors include his daughter, Janice Horn, four grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his son, Chris Messersmith, his parents, six sisters, and one half-brother. Funeral services were held at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Burial was in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas.
