Marian died Sunday, November 30, 2008 surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at St. John's Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 84 years of age.
Marian was born March 30, 1924 in Rake, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Marit (Ranes) Honstad. She graduated from high school in Rake, Iowa. Marian was united in marriage to Kenneth A. Odson and together they made their home in Albert Lea since 1968. Marian had been employed for a short time at Land-O-Lakes. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren for many years. Marian was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the Sharing and Caring. She loved making lutefisk and lefse, playing cards, traveling to Texas and northern Minnesota, but mostly her trip to Norway in the 1980's. Spending time with family was a very important part of her life.
Marian is survived by her children: Jeannie and Lyle Boyer of Albert Lea, MN, Duane Odson or Albert Lea, MN, Carolyn and Arlen Kjarland of Stewartville, MN, Linda and Jim Radke of Manchester, MN, Connie and Larry Rygh of Albert Lea, MN, and son-in-law Jerry Nelson of Albert Lea, MN. Sisters include: Mable Johnson of Albert Lea, MN, Lydia Helleksen of Lake Crystal, MN, and Gertrude Murra of Buffalo Center, IA. One sister-in-law: Rosie Honstad of Wells, MN. Grandchildren: Michelle (Paul) Keefe, Mary Boyer and special friend Devon Christianson, Carrie (Pedro) Olvera, Wayne Stinehart, Michael (Agnes) Stinehart, Julie Stinehart, Jason Kjarland, Kelly Kjarland, Samantha Kjarland, Laura Kjarland, Gerald Shaffer, Walter Shaffer, Cory Shaffer, Derek Rygh, April Rygh, and Christopher Rygh.
