Mr. Thomas Allen Morningstar, 86, of 1001 Carroll Parkway, Brooklawn Apartments, Frederick, died Sunday, Aug. 18, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Mary Ellen Frye Morningstar, his wife of 56 years.
Born Feb. 18, 1916, in Barnesville, he was a son of the late Algeria T. and Fannie M. Morningstar.
He entered the U.S. Army on May 6, 1941, serving during World War II in the South Pacific with the 503rd Parachute Infantry. He was discharged Nov. 7, 1945.
In 1946, he started working for the government as an electrician at Government Services Administration and retired in 1976.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life member of the Owls Club, both in Frederick.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one sister, Dorothy D. Shephard of Galion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Morningstar; and three sisters, Gladys Kinna, Harriet Hanson and Beulah Biedsoe.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
