Sergeant of Co. F 23rd North Carolina Infantry.
Died at the Banner Hospital in Richmond VA on
January 9, 1862 of Typhoid Fever.

His wife is reported to have travelled to VA to retrieve his body and bring him back to NC.

My local SCV Camp installed this new grave marker for David in 2009. HIs original stone was broken and we laid it at the base of this new grave marker. My understanding is, Rhoda and a servant rode to Richmond and brought David home for burial.
