NEW ALBANY James Raymond “Ray” Gadd, 83, died Sunday, June 13, 1999, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. He was born May 7, 1916, in Benton County to the Rev. Jim Gadd and Alice Perkins Gadd. A member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, he was retired from Benton County District 5 and had worked for the United States Forestry Service.
The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Bro. William F. Atchison officiating. Burial will be in Flat Rock Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lucille Sides Gadd of Hickory Flat; eight sons, Raymond Gadd of Cleveland, Tenn., Aaron Gadd, Wayne Gadd, Jerry “Tub” Gadd, David “Red” Gadd and Douglas “Pete” Gadd, all of Hickory Flat, Bob Gadd of Potts Camp and Ronnie Joe Gadd of Wren; four daughters, Johnnie Grace Love of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Brenda Mason of Hickory Flat, Sandra Ash of Potts Camp and Pam Poindexter of Coldwater; two sisters, Estelle Richardson of Ripley and Christine Bolt of Memphis; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, a great-grandson, three brothers, Hubert Gadd, Grady Gadd and Ernest Gadd, and three sisters, Etoyle Brotherton, Mamie Forbes and Willie Mae Carroll.
His sons will serve as pallbearers.
