George married Norma J. Wooton on November 13, 1952 in Hyden, KY; she preceded him in death in 1998. He was employed by Michigan Paper Board Company for 41 years, retiring in 1995.
George is survived by sons, Ronald W. Asher of Springfield, Gary L. Asher of East Leroy, Bobby L. Asher of Harper Creek, and Donald G. Asher of Battle Creek; a daughter, Bonnie L. Stewart of Pennfield; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brothers, Roderick, Vetch, and Jeffry Asher; and a sister, Mildred Howard, all of Kentucky; and a special friend, Katherine Stewart. He was also preceded in death by brothers Woodrow and Edward Asher.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, where services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Harold Cosby officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
