Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose L. and Eva M. (Pariseau) Houston and the wife of the late Frederick T. Harker. A resident of North Providence for 39 years, she had lived in Cumberland since 1989.
Marjorie was a devout Traditional Catholic, steadfast in her faith and devotion. She was a skilled craftswoman, quilter, avid gardener, and homemaker and generous with her time and talents, sharing these gifts with family, friends and others through her volunteer work. As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children: Diane O'Connor and her husband Vincent, of Killingly CT; Martha Butterfield and her husband James, of Raritan, NJ; Deborah Furia and her husband John, of Cumberland, RI; and her son, Geoffrey Harker of Moab, UT as well as 12 grandchildren: Suzanne (O'Connor) Gosselin, Margaret (O'Connor) Trahan, Eileen (O'Connor) Carlson, and Sean O'Connor; James, Jeremy, and Joshua Butterfield; John and Marisa Furia; Houston, Caitlin, and Colin Harker and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is the sister of Sr. Monice (Evelyn) Houston, RSM of Cumberland and the late William Houston, Sr. Edna Marie Houston, RSM, Sr. Lillian Houston, RSM , and Peter A. Houston.
Mrs. Harker's services will be held from J.J.Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd., Cumberland, RI. Calling hours will be Monday, December 8, from 4 to 8 PM and Tuesday from 9 to 10 AM followed by a Requiem Latin Mass at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Reservoir Rd, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mount St. Rita's Health Center, 15 Sumner Brown Rd., Cumberland, RI 02864 are appreciated
