Jack Baba, 86, of Plainville, widower of Viola (Tamaraz) Baba, passed away December 5, 2008 at Farmington Care Center. Born in New Britain, son of the late Peter and Alice (Zaya) Baba, he lived in Plainville since 1964. A graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1940, he served with the US Navy during World War II. Jack was employed at General Electric in Plainville for 30 years and then at Fafnir Bearing company for 10 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Thomas Assyrian Church of the East in New Britain and was a past president of the Assyrian American National Federation. Surviving are two sons, Douglas Baba and his fiancé Nora Ross of Port Charlotte, FL; and Donald Baba and his wife Leslie of Plainville; three sisters, Lillian Nash and her husband Dick in Massachusetts; Rose Drummond and her husband Oliver in California; and Josephine Elia and her husband Sam in Tennessee; a grandson, Michael Baba and his wife Kristen, with the US Airforce, stationed in Shreveport, LA; several nieces and nephews.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery
