Mr. John Eugene Johnson, 40, of 1313 Ohio Ave., Lynn Haven died Sunday at 4:00 a.m. in a local hospital. He had been a resident here for the past 25 yrs., coming from Columbus, Ohio. He was a service technician for Southern Bell. He was a member of Parker masonic Lodge #142 and the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Freida Wiselogel Johnson of Lynn Haven; three daughters, Mrs. Diana Bivins of Youngstown, Miss Terri Johnson of Highland Park and Miss Joni Johnson of Lynn Haven; a son, J.L. Johnson of Highland park; two stepsons, Scott Turner and Bill Turner, both of Lynn Haven; his mother Mrs. Bernice Johnson of Hilland Park; and a brother, Robert Johnson of Port St. Joe. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Si Mathison and Rev. Rex Mixson officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
John was the only child born of Herman James & Bernice Mildred (Kimes) Johnson. He was born in Columbus, Ohio. He attended public schools in Columbus, Ohio until the 10th grade when his family moved to Youngstown, Bay, Florida because they had purchased The New Motel & Cafe. John played Varsity Football (End) at Marion Franklin High as well as Bay County High in Panama City, Florida.
His IQ was well above average and could have went on to college but he chose to stay and help his family out. He excelled in Electronics and had a keen memory.
On March 9, 1961 (one day after his 20th birthday) he eloped and married Patricia Carol Bailey in Bainbridge, GA. They had one daughter: Patricia Diane Johnson. The marriage ended in divorce in 1962. On May 12, 1962 he remarried Mary Barbara Sherrick. To this marriage two girls and one son were born: James Lee, Terri Lynn, & Joni Eugenia Johnson. This marriage also ended in divorce in 1980. That same year on October 10, 1980, he remarried for the 3rd and last time to Freida Elaine Wiselogel. No children.
