Betty Sue Hoyle Hollar


Granite Falls, N.C. - Mrs. Betty Sue Hoyle Hollar, 80, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

She was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Caldwell County to the late James Walter Hoyle and Ida Whisnant Hoyle.

Mrs. Hollar was a member of Poovey's Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Hollar; three sisters, Bonnie Yount, Nina Summerlin and Margaret Fulbright; a brother, Steven Hoyle; and a special friend, Zollie "Doc" Hamby.

She is survived by three sons, William Richard Hollar of Rhodhiss, Michael Lynn Hollar of Granite Falls and Roger Dean Hollar and wife, Margaret, of Bethlehem; two daughters, Brenda Hollar Pittman and husband, Tommy, of Drexel and Jean Hollar Hunsucker of Icard; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hollar will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Mackie-High Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. David Jones officiating.

Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at Mackie-High Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hollar will be her grandsons, Chad Hollar, Jason Hollar, Curtis Hollar, Keith Pittman, Tyler Pittman and Kaleb Pittman.
