Russian politician and religious figure. Born into a noble family of wealthy landowners he was a member of the III Russian State Duma and after his emigration - a vicar of the Western European Exarchate of Russian Parishes of Ecumenical Patriarchate, with the title of Bishop of Messina. As a young man, he studied in the military Cadets school and later started a political career. He was awarded the Order of St. Anne, St. Vladimir and St. Stanislaus and a medal to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov With the beginning of the Russian Civil War, he joined the Northern army where he served as a Minister of Finances in the Government of the Northern Region (Arkhangelsk), headed by N.V. Tchaikovsky. At the end of April 1919 went to Siberia to join Kolchak's army. Since 1920, he lived in exile in France. In 1931 he received the priesthood. Rector of St. Nicholas Church in Milan (1931-1935), Christ-church Christmas in Florence (1935-1950), Christ the Savior Cathedral in San Remo (1948-1950), dean of the parishes in Italy. In the late 1940s, he was tonsured with the name John.
