Camera Lorean Hepworth Gardner, 80, of Afton died August 20, 1984 in her home of heart failure. Funeral services were held August 24, 1984 at 12 noon in the Afton First Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Jerry Harmon officiating. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery under the direction of Schwab Mortuary.
Lorean was born July 24, 1904 in Grover Wyoming to Camera Thurman and George William Hepworth Sr. She attended elementary school in Grover; then when she was 16, she moved to Utah where she graduated form Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah. She returned to Star Valley and went to normal training to become a teacher. She taught school in Star Valley for many years and received her B.S, degree from Utah State University in 1955.
Lorean and Brigham Delos Gardner were married January 6, 1928 in Afton and sealed June 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1978 and served an LDS mission to Southern Australia in 1966.
She was very active in the LDS Church serving in many positions. She especially enjoyed directing dramas and plays. She started the first junior Sunday School in the Grover LDS Ward. Lorean enjoyed sewing and made many quilts. She was a member of the Susan B. Cazier Branch of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers.
Survivors include her husband of Afton; five daughters; Mrs Garth (Nola Jean) Leavitt of Afton; Mrs Woodford (Vivian) Jones of Bountiful Utah; Mrs Rex (LaNiel) Reasch of Powell, Wyo.; Mrs William (Majorie) Bradshaw of Orem, Utah; Mrs James (Julia) Sarvey of Glenrock, Wyo.; three sons; Br Brigham Delworth Gardner of Davis California; Mr Joel Delos Gardner of Orem, Utah; Dr Harold H. Gardner of Detroit Mich.
She is also survived by three sisters and three brothers; Mrs Fern Washburn of Clearfield Utah; Mrs Don (Alta) DeMarco of Erie Pena.; Mrs Alice Simpson of San Jose Calif.; Mr George Hepworth of Ogden, Utah; Mr Homer Hepworth of Mexico City, Mexico; Mr Rulon Delos Hepworth of Conoga Park, Calif; 37 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
