June M. Van Wynsberghe, 85, of Prophetstown, formerly of Coventry Villages in Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Prophetstown with the Rev. Insoon Yoon officiating. Burial will follow services in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 12, at McDonald Funeral Home, Prophetstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center and Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
Mrs. Wynsberghe was born June 15, 1922, in Prophetstown, the daughter of Arthur and Mae Larson Skarin. She married Henry Van Wynsberghe Jan. 11, 1941, in Camanche, Iowa.
During World War II, she worked at the Ammunitions Plant at Green River. She also worked at Federated Dry Goods Store and Micro Gear in Prophetstown. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Prophetstown. She enjoyed needlework and was very devoted to her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her sister, Joyce Dickinson (Rudy Paulson), Morrison; Joyce's children, Steve (Ann) Chamberlain, Prophetstown, Linda (Mike) Corken, Aurora, Ill., Janet Collier, Peru, Ill., Pat (Susie) Chamberlain, Dixon, Ill., and George (Lisa) Chamberlain, Thomson, Ill.; her sister, Jean (Richard) Shearer, Erie; Jean's children, David (Debbie) Shearer, Geneseo, Wendy Shearer, Denver, Colo., Joe (Kathy) Shearer, Sterling, Ill., and Ruthie (Richard) Waterman, North Carolina; her late sister, Elzene Weber's daughter, Betty Lou Edwards, Georgia; her late brother, Andy Skarin's children, Andrea (Bruce) Bufe, Davenport, and Aldy (Colleen) Skarin, Albany; her late brother, Dale Skarin's children, Donny Dale Skarin, Scottsdale, Ariz., Chad Skarin, California, and Cathi Skarin, California; four nephews and three nieces on the Van Wynsberghe side of the family; 21 great-nieces and -nephews on the Skarin side of the family; and five great-great-nieces and -nephews, also on the Skarin side of the family. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Andy Skarin, Bill Skarin and Dale Skarin; and one sister, Elzene Weber.
