She was born in Decatur, Georgia, raised in Opelika, Alabama, and resided in Kingsport since 1946. Mary attended Auburn University where she met her husband. She was a long-time supporter of Auburn University and Lees-McRae College (Banner Elk, NC), was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a strong supporter Girls, Inc. of Kingsport, and a volunteer with Mended Hearts.
A family entombment service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
