A dad who came to this country after the death of both of his parents with his older siblings and some of their spouses and even nieces and nephews. A very long trip to make. And a mom born the oldest of 12 in her family.
Then you met and married John Carter on Aug 28,1852 in Auglaize Co. Ohio.
Young happy and three children blessed your lives until this thing called a Civil War came along .
Your young lives were shattered and all was lost. John was very badly injured and later died due to those injuries at the Battle of Fayettesville.
So by 1861 your toddler son Milton Carter had died and now May 23, 1862 you were a widow not even 26 years of age.
But God smiled on you and you and Simon Smith fell in love and married on July 19, 1864.
Simon not only loved you, but also Nancy Elizabeth Carter & Lucetta Carter since he legally became their guardian to care and provide for them.
Your marriage was blessed with 7 additional children.
