She was a descendant of Hugh Calkins, one of the founders of Norwich, Connecticut. The daughter of John Calkins and Katharine Foster, she married 1) _____ Hatch and 2) about 1758 to Amos Northrup, both marriages probably at Dutchess County, New York.

Her gravestone shows the year of her death as 1804, but the Tyringham vital records show it as 1805. The death record was apparently written at a later date, since it appears on the same page with deaths that occurred in 1810, 1840, 1843 and 1844. Therefore, it would seem likely that the date shown on the gravestone is the accurate one.
