She was a life long member of Vinton Wesleyan Church and a retired Dietary Supervisor at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. Mrs. English was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Gracie Hennegar and is survived by four sons, Ray V. English, Roanoke; Larry W. English, Lynchburg; Michael W. English, Bent Mountain; William O. English, Vinton; three daughters, Mrs. Diane Shifflett, Roanoke; Mrs. Elaine Duncan, Roanoke; Mrs. Cathy Fletcher, Shelbyville, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Howell, Richmond; Mrs. Elzora Harris, Roanoke; Mrs. Emma Fuller, Hopewell; Mrs. Martha Lavinder, Roanoke; twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Barnhardt Baptist Church Cemetery (Stewartsville), at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Dr. Flavy B. Brown officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
