While working in St. George she met and married Robert Wood on November 28, 1964. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple. They were later divorced. While working in Las Vegas , Mary met and married Ernest Anderson. After their marriage, they lived in Westridge, Colorado where Ernie worked for the U.S. Geological Survey. Three children were born to this union; Avalyn, Roy Eric, and Kyle Wade. Mary and Ernie later divorced and she moved back to Washington.
Mary was grateful for life. She loved people and she loved to study history and to visit with others about their lives and the history of this area. She was very creative and had a wonderful green thumb with special talents for making flower arrangements, home design, and decorating. During her years in Colorado she operated a home giving care to those with physical, emotional, and mental challenges. She was an active member of the LDS faith and truly enjoyed giving services to others.
She is survived by a daughter, Avalyn Anderson, Alaska: sons Roy Eric Anderson (Rebecca serving in Iraq), Colorado Springs, Colorado: Kyle Wade (Vale)Anderson, Denver, Colorado: granddaughter, Jordan; one brother, Ray Neilson of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sisters, Belle Hulet, Cedar City, Utah; Gaydria Russell, Henderson, Nevada; Janis Hoffman, Eagle Mountain, Utah and Linda Kae Wilkinson (Randy) of St. George, Utah.
Funeral services will Friday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary,
