He was the son of Joel Andrew Beougher and Jennie Jane (Geil) Beougher. He married Vivian Velva Smith on July 26, 1914 in Scott City, Scott County, Kansas.

Merlyn Beougher, 78, died Friday, Feb. 4, in the Gove County Hospital, Quinter.
He was born Dec.22,1904,at Orion the son of Joel and Jennie(Geil) Beougher. He married Vivian Smith on June 14, 1929, at Scott City. He had been the postmaster in Gove for 27 years before retiring in 1972. He was a member of the National Assn. of Postmasters.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Loren, Raytown, MO, Elton, Hays and Marvin, Grainfield; a daughter, Mrs. Ima Lee Heier, Angloa, Ind.; three brothers Gael, Grinnell, DeWitt, Oakley, and Harold, Gove; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Beaver, Kansas City, MO; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward L. Redfield officiating; burial in the Gove Cemetery, with Hendricks Funeral Chapel, Quinter in charge. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, the Gove County Hospital or the Gove Community Improvement Assn.
