Lloyd J. Neal, 76, of Springfield died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at St. John's Hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1931, in Curran, the son of Harry S. and Myrtle I. Hewitt Neal. He married Irene E. Devlin on Sept. 12, 1949.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Irene E. Neal; a daughter, Rita Ann Sloan of Springfield; a son, John L. Neal of Springfield; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Louise Neal; four sisters, Betty Cleeton, Mary Tootsie Stefancic, Jean (George) Young and Pat (Archie) Harmon; four brothers, Bill (Linda) Neal, Charlie (Marlene) Neal, Meirl (Gayle) Neal and Harry Lynn (Sharon) Neal; and aunt, Juanita Neal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Health for 39 years in the lab. He was a member of Saint Cabrini Church. He enjoyed deer hunting.

Funeral Mass at St. Cabrini Church, with the Rev. Richard Chiola officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
