He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Irene E. Neal; a daughter, Rita Ann Sloan of Springfield; a son, John L. Neal of Springfield; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; stepmother, Louise Neal; four sisters, Betty Cleeton, Mary Tootsie Stefancic, Jean (George) Young and Pat (Archie) Harmon; four brothers, Bill (Linda) Neal, Charlie (Marlene) Neal, Meirl (Gayle) Neal and Harry Lynn (Sharon) Neal; and aunt, Juanita Neal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Health for 39 years in the lab. He was a member of Saint Cabrini Church. He enjoyed deer hunting.
