Norman was born near Bagdad in Shelby County, Kentucky. He was the son of James F. & Ellazine (McGaughey) Edington. He was a 1937 graduate of Simpsonville, Kentucky, High School. He was a member of the basketball team.

He enlisted in the Army on November 20, 1939. He served in Panama until September 1943. He then served in Normandy, Northern France, Belgium and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged on June 22, 1945.

He had worked at Hendrix Brothers Regulator & Skinners Cafe. He retired from RCA after 17 years' service.

He married Estella Phelps on March 14, 1949. She preceded him in death in 1972. Also preceding him were his parents; brothers Stanley, Orris, Marvin, Henry, Claude, John & Joe Edington; sisters, Ruby and Hazel; niece, Betty Pyles. He is survived by his brother David Edington (Estalena) of Bloomington; nieces Betty Shuck of Louisville, KY, Pat Darby of Simpsonville, KY, Judy Sparrow of Mt. Eden, KY, Linda Reily of Lexington, KY, and a nephew, Tom Eddington of Ruskin, Florida.

He was a member of VFW Post 604 and American Legion Post 18 of Bloomington.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel. The service will follow at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. The service will conducted by Bro. Joe Nelson and Military graveside service will be held by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
