Chester H. Nelson
July 1, 1914 – March 17, 1997

Chester H. Nelson, son o Olaf A. And Mary B (Nelson) Nelson, was born July 1, 1914, near Ruthven, Iowa. On July 28, 1937, Chester married Margaret F. Reed of Ruthven.
Chester was employed as a long distance truck driver all of his life, affiliated with several different companies. In 1971, he was named Driver of the Year the State of Iowa.
Chester and Margaret moved to Zapata, Texas in 1979, where they spent their winters while traveling during the summer.
Chester died March 17, 1997, at his home in Zapata, Texas, at the age of 82. Services were held Wednesday, 1997, at the Methodist Church in Zapata, with Rev. Virgilio Vazquez officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, David Nelson; and a brother, Earnest Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Zapata, TX; his children, Donald Nelson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rosemary Dawes of Dallas, TX and Peg Nelson of Nassau, Bahamas; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
