Charles Ivan Trowbridge, 58, 410 Avondale, District Right-of-Way Engineer for the Illinois Bell Telephone Co., died at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 1957 at Carle Memorial Hospital following an illness of several months.

Mr. Trowbridge had been with Illinois Bell for 33 years. He and Mrs. Trowbridge had been residents of Champaign for the past 20 years.

Mr. Trowbridge was born February 14, 1899 at Noble, son of Calvin and Amanda E. Patterson Trowbridge. His marriage to Florence Sims took place on May 26, 1923 at Indianapolis, IN. Mrs. Trowbridge is prominently identified with work of the Daughters of the American Revolution and is now serving in the state organization as recording secretary.

Mr. Trowbridge was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Olive Branch Lodge 38, AF and AM of Danville; Champaign Lodge 398, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Besides his widow, Mr. Trowbridge leaves two brothers, Rolla Trowbridge of Solsberry, IN and Harvey Ernest Trowbridge of Lincoln, IL., as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Services are to be conducted from the Heath Memorial Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Malcolm Nygren of the First Presbyterial Church officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by Western Star Lodge 240, AF and AM. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Heath Chapel until 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
