William enlisted in Confederate Service in October 1861 and served as a Private in Company K, Wood's Confederate Cavalry. William was in the last battle fought east of the Mississippi River at Sipsey's Swamp, AL. He was discharged in May 1865.
William's home was West Bank Plantation located on the westside of Silver Creek in south Washington COunty which is now part of Yazoo County. His wife was Sarah Frances Rucker and they married in September 1857.
