Chilton was the son of Susanna Winslow and Robert Latham. He had 7 siblings: Mercy, Hannah, James (twin with Mary), Mary, Susanna Sarah, Joseph and Elizabeth. He married Susanna Kingman on December 6, 1699 in Bridgewater, MA. They had 8 children: Charles, Jane, Arthur, James, Robert, Joseph, Susanna and Mary.


He was a teacher before joining the Massachusetts Militia.

Gravesite Details

"This stone originally stood where the bank wall now (1882) stands, about 20 feet south of the present iron gate and were removed to their present location by Williams Latham in 1848. Capt. Chilton lived where the late Azor Harris lived and died."
