Mrs. A. 0. Sweat, who had made her home in Collingsworth County more than half a century, died in Childress General Hospital at 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, after a lengthy illness. She and her family lived in the Aberdeen community for a number of years after coming here in 1915 from Denton County. With her husband, she participated in many affairs in the area that were for the strengthening of community and religious life. She was especially aware of need for education of all young people, and she worked to the end that her own would have that advantage. Her home had been in Wellington for more than 30 years. Mrs. Sweat, the former Nathellie Lee Smulcer. was born Oct. 21, 1882. She and Mr. Sweat were married July 17, 1896 in Grayson County. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1959.
She had been a member of the Baptist Church since early in life.
Survivors include six sons and four daughters: Hardy Sweat of Rogers, Ark.; Olmon Sweat of Spur; Olson Sweat of Colorado City; Laney Sweat of Riviera, Ariz.; Rufus Sweat and Dick Sweat of Wellington; Mrs. W. C. Boykin of Amarillo; Mrs. Howard Keener of Littlefield; Mrs. Green Stoker of Mineral Wells, and Mrs. Thellie Lee Herring of Grand Prairie. Other survivors are a sister and two brothers: Mrs. Edna Simpson and Omer Smulcer of McLean, and Porter Smulcer of Wichita Falls; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
