George Marion McCullers Sr.

GEORGE MARION MCCULLERS, SR. Mr. George Marion "Big Daddy" McCullers, Sr., 77, died November 21, 2008, at Memorial Hospital, Chattanooga, TN. Mr. McCullers was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach. He was a 1949 graduate of Vero Beach Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #39, Vero Beach. George McCullers Sr. was a pilot and an avid boater and fisherman as well as an animal lover. In 1954 Mr. McCullers founded Reliable Septic & Well Drilling Services.

Mr. McCullers was a member of the Moose Lodge #1822, Vero Beach, and the Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge #1774, Vero Beach.

Survivors include his sons, George Marion McCullers, Jr., Bruce Thomas McCullers both of Vero Beach and Gary Everett McCullers, Retired Master Sargent USAF; stepson, Lieutenant Randy Monnin of Indian River County Fire Department, Vero Beach, FL; stepdaughters, Mary Meeler, P.A. of West Palm Beach, FL and Shirley R. Jordan; brother, Billy James McCullers, Sr. of Vero Beach; sisters, Bernita Raulerson of Vero Beach; Faye Ferraioli of Long Beach, CA; nephew, Jimmy McCullers, niece, Debbie Bryant, nephew, Timmy McCullers, niece, Suzie Howard, niece, Judy Hunt, niece, Donna Hardee, niece, Cindy Walker, nephew, Phillip Hinkle, nephew, Tommy Hinkle, niece, Betty Nobles, numerous step-grandchildren and companion, Cherry Murray. His sisters, Rosemary Hinkle, and Betty Marie Siniard, preceded Mr. McCullers in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to "HALO" which is a non-profit - no-kill animal shelter, 710 Jackson Street, Sebastian, FL 32958 in memory of Mr. McCullers.

SERVICES: Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on December 2, 2008, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on December 3, 2008, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with Rev. James Hinkle officiating. Interment will be in Winter Beach Cemetery with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach. A covered dish reception will follow at Coppertops in the Best Western, 8797 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL.
