Frank Q. Spann, 88, of Spann Road, passed away Monday, December 01, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born July 14, 1920 in Yadkin County to the late James Charlie and Martha Martin Spann. Mr. Spann loved farming, spending time with his family, and it brightened his day when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to see him. He attended Fall Creek Baptist Church when he was able, and was a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nonnie B. Spann on February 26, 2008; and by three sisters, Oma Mook, Selma Martin, Florence Pruitt; and by a brother, Lee Spann. Surviving are his children, Frank (Naomi) Spann, Jr.; Donald James (Angie) Spann, Larry Wayne Spann, Lou Eva Johnson; great-niece, Geneva Sebastian; sister, Gladys Cook; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. His funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Gentry Family Chapel, with Rev. Spencer King and Rev. John Byerly officiating. Burial will follow in the Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
