She was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Ness County to Alexander and Anna Hafner Schwartz Sr. The Schwartz family moved to Lane County in September 1928. Ellis attended schools in Ness County and also in Lane County. In 1938, she moved to Scott County, and then in 1976, she moved to Anderson. Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Honeylake Union Church in Anderson. She was a Sunday school teacher and also the church treasurer for many years.
On June 12, 1938, she married Harold Ellis in Dighton. He died Nov. 15, 1994, in Anderson.
Ellis is survived by three sons, Charles Ellis of Seattle; Mark Ellis and Mike Ellis of Scott City; and one daughter, Cheri Campbell of Anderson. Survivors also include 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Marie Love and Karen Knoles; three brothers, Alexander Schwartz Jr., Victor Schwartz and Benjamin Schwartz; and four sisters, Elizabeth Heronemus, Lydia Keene, Esther Stieben, and Rachel Nusser. She also was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Graveside services were at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City.
