Cynthia Francis Rainey of Paris died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas following a brief illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday Aug. 25, 2005, at East Paris Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Schupp officiating. A private family interment will be held on Friday at Chicota Cemetery. The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1951, in Paris, a daughter of Clarkson and Fern Gordon Sain.
She was a graduate of Chicota schools, and a member of the Chicota Baptist Church. She served as a volunteer arts & crafts director at Paris Nursing Home, then worked for many years at the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. She was an independent insurance agent, and owner of Rainey Insurance Agency in downtown Paris. She loved horseback riding, baking, and loved spoiling her grandchildren, as well as some who were not her own.
She married Benton Rainey on June 13, 1995, in Paris.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarkson Sain, on July 18, 2005.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Aaron Raper of Paris; a daughter, April Lockey and husband, Curtis, of LaJolla, Calif.; a stepson, Brian Rainey and wife, Ruth, of Honey Grove; four grandchildren, Jake Lockey, Austin Cunningham, Noel Rainey and Kate Rainey; 'grand friends' Max and Merritt Mitchell; her mother, Fern Sain of Chicota; two sisters, Lee Ann Foreman and husband, Billy, of Powderly, and Mary Beth Dutton and husband, B. J., of Powderly; a brother, Clark Sain and wife, Carol, of Chicota; two brothers-in-law, and a sisters-in-law, Gary Rainey and wife, Lisa, and Rodney Rainey and wife, Shannon, and Nelda Reed and husband, David; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her special friends named as honorary pallbearers are Richard Drake, Ron Wiess, Ray Crowell, Johnny Brunson, Mike Parsons, Rodney Rainey, Gary Rainey, David Reid, Reggie Horton, Frank Ting, Kyle Mitchell and Rick Standifer.
If desired, in lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the building fund of Chicota Baptist Church.
