Funeral Services For Charlie Fairley

Charlie Corbet Fairley, 66, died Saturday in a Mobile hospital after an extended illness.

A George County native, Fairley resided in Leaf community prior to moving to Lucedale 10 years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a retired timber man and a World War I Army veteran.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday from First Baptist Church with the Rev Joe Stovall, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery here, with George County Funeral Home directing arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Parker Fairley, of Lucedale; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Arant, of Foley, Ala., one son, George D. Fairley of McAllen, Tex, three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Freeman, Hattiesburg, Miss., Mrs. W. R. Gilmore, Gulfport, Miss., and Mrs. Sim Gilmore, Beaumont, Tex.; a brother, Ozis Fairley of Lumberton, Miss., three grandchildren and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Evern Malone, Ed Bounds, Roy Fraley, Charlie Miller, H.K. Walters and L.M. Shattles.
