Mrs. Ada Bell Rhone Rains, age 104 of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 in the Houston County Nursing Home in Crockett. Mrs. Rains was born November 24, 1903 in the Cutt Community, Houston County, Texas and was a lifetime resident of Houston County. Mrs. Rains was a graduate of the Center Hill School. Mrs. Rains was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Kennard and attended the Good Shepherd Fellowship Church in Crockett. She was a housewife.
Survivors include her children
Dewitt Rains and wife Joyce, of Crockett, Cleo Price and husband Dort, of Pearland, Jay Rains and wife Joyce, of Latexo and Ruby Adler and husband Albert, of Crockett; grandchildren Duwaine Rains, Donnie Rains, Michael Rains, all of Crockett, Marilyn Turner, of Latexo, LaVonne Price Whiteside, of Rosharon, Crystal June Price, of Pearland, Ricky Rains, of Latexo, Vickie Kelledy, of Dallas, Randy Powell, of Latexo, Margie Wendel, Devita Donelan, both of Crockett, Dale Adler, of Waco and Melanie Goolsby, of Crockett; 27 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; brother Johnny Rhone, of Crockett; sisters Eva Dell Reynolds, Louise Walker, Wendell Mericle, all of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her husband Henry Rains; infant son Marshall Franklin Rains; sons Carl Hugh Rains and Dave E. Rains; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Rains; great-great-grandson Dean Ray Whiteside; sisters Bessie Morgan, Mable Rhone and Eurene Johnson; brothers, J.D. Rhone, Willie B. Rhone and Mack Rhone; and step-mother Myrtie Rhone
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ada Bell Rhone Rains were held Saturday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Byers officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett.
