Arthur J. "Jack" Tupper, 87, of 80 Grove Street, Massena died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, December 20, 1985 in the Massena Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since December 2.
Surviving are five daughters, Miss Betty Tupper, Mrs. Leon Lorena Boyce, Mrs. Arnold Luella Vallanace, Mrs. David Beatrice Martin, all of Massena, and Mrs. Ray Eva DeFoyd of CA; one son, Gordon M. Tupper of PA; 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Tupper; two sisters, Winnie Paterson and Nellie Houstler; two sons, Arthur and Garnett; and one daughter, Gertrude.
Mr. Tupper was born March 19, 1898 in Edmonton, England, the son of William J. and Charlotte Stevens Tupper. He attended schools in Elgin, Ontario and married Florence Lloyd on November 2, 1916. Mrs. Tupper died on August 20, 1974.
The Tuppers moved to Massena 1926 from Canada and Mr. Tupper worked as a foreman in the pot rooms of the Alcoa plant. He retired in 1963.
