Daughter of
O. Henry.

Margaret Worth Porter was the only daughter of author O Henry and his first wife Athol Estes Porter. Her mother died of tuberculosis when she was seven years old. The next year, her father was sentenced to prison time for embezzlement. She was told he was away on business. During this time, she lived with her maternal grandparents in Texas and later in Pennsylvania.

Margaret attended college and had a short lived career writing stories of her own. In 1916, she married illustrator Oscar Cesare. They divorced four years later.
Margaret contracted tuberculosis and moved to Banning, California. She was cared for by Alec J Sartin and eventually married him on her death bed. She died three days after the marriage. In her will, she left all she had to her husband, A J Sartin, which included royalties from the works of her father.
