OBITUARY

MARY M. (Magdalene Snyder) HOTTLE

Mary M. Snyder Hottle, daughter of Isaac and Julia Snyder, was born in Harrison county, Indiana, on the 11th day of November, 1832, and departed this life at her home in Wyaconda Mo., on the 22nd day of July 1934, being at the time of her death, 101 years, 8 months and 11 days old.
On the 7th day of April, 1852, she united in marriage to G. W. Hottle and to this union eight children were born, namely: Isaac, John William, Mitchell, Julia, Maggie, Ella and May.
She received the ordinance of baptism in infancy and united with the United Brethren church.
Four of the above named children have preceded their mother to the Great Beyond, Isaac, John and Dr. Will Hottle, and Mrs. Maggie Kinkade. Her husband, G. W. Hottle, died on the 23rd day February, 1918.
Mrs. Hottle with her husband, lived on a farm just south east of Wyaconda for a number of years and being incapacitated for work on the farm on account of their advanced age, moved to town and spent the remainder of their lives in Wyaconda.
In the death of Mrs. Hottle, this community loses another one of its pioneer citizens and mother in Israel. There are few who attain to the ripe old age of more than a century as she did. She cast a vote at the last presidential election (8 Nov 1932) just a few days before she reached the century mark. Let us endeavor to follow her good examples, that our days may be long upon the earth.
She leaves to mourn her passing the following named children: M. J. Hottle of Wyaconda. Mo.; Mrs. Julia (Ann) Barber (1854-1938), Mrs. Ella Barber (1866-1959) and Miss May (Etta Mae) Hottle (1868-1959), all of Wyaconda, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild besides many other relatives and a large number of friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services were held at the Wyaconda Methodist church Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock, Rev. G. V. Baskett officiating.
Music was furnished by the Misses Louise Odell (Wells), Phyllis Desvaux (Hutchinson), and Clydean Hartman (Clough), with Mrs. Helen Butler presiding at the piano
