Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and husband, Glenn Harold Bergstrom returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father and his beloved sweetheart Donna surrounded by his family on November 27, 2008. He resided at 11220 South 2700 West in South Jordan, Utah at the time of his death.


Glenn was born September 10, 1925 to Oscar F. Bergstrom and Eva L. Bergstrom in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the third of four children. He married Donna Mae Finney on November 10, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA and was sealed to his sweetheart of 57 years in the Salt Lake Temple one year later on November 10, 1947.


Glenn served in the United States Marine Corps. during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an Amphibious Sergeant in the fifth Marine Division that landed on Iwo Jima and witnessed the raising of the flag on Mt. Suribachi. He was also with one of the first Marine units that occupied Japan after the war. Glenn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel and served in many callings. His most cherished and happiest calling was serving as a missionary in the Kentucky, Louisville Mission with his beloved wife from 1987-1989 where they had a great love for the people in Eastern Kentucky.


He is survived by his children Michael (Carolyn) West Jordan, UT; Debra (Jeff) Las Vegas, NV; Russell (Lorie) Murray, UT; Robert, Riverton, UT; Charles (Dani) South Jordan, UT; brothers Keith, Riverton, UT; and Elwin Salt Lake City, UT; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Donna, two children, daughter, Diana, son Richard, daughter-in-law, Cherie, parents, and brother, Leonard.


Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Country Crossing 1st Ward Chapel, 11173 South Copper Peak Way (3245 West). Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West and one hour prior at the Church.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn, Riverton.
