Timothy 'Sarge' Sargent, Sr., 60, of DeSoto passed away September 23, 2008 in DeSoto. Mr. Sargent was a self-employed pipe fitter and a member of Second Baptist Church of Festus. A veteran of the U, S, Marine Corps, he was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Mississippi River Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Born November 9, 1947, in Shook, he was the son of the late William Sargent and Geneva (Tummins) Payton. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Whitehead) Sargent of DeSoto; three sons: Timothy (Kathy) Sargent Jr. of DeSoto, Jason (Teresa) Schumer of Festus and James (Melissa) Sargent of Michigan; two brothers: William Sargent and Robert Sargent, both of Greenville; two sisters: Betty White of Ste. Genevieve and Beverly Moss of Festus; and five grandchildren: Emily Sargent, Luke Sargent, Jasmine Schumer, Carmeron Gilmer and Mariah Gilmer. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Roberta Elledge and Clara Laws. Funeral services were held September 27 at Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto, officiated by the Rev. Jeremy Muniz. Burial was in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in DeSoto. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.
