ZEHR, Austin - Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2008, at The Maples, Tavistock. Austin was born 92 years ago in East Zorra Township, a son of the late Emanuel and Emma (Brenneman) Zehr. He was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden. Austin was a dairy farmer and resided at RR1 Tavistock for many years. He enjoyed curling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Devoted husband of Helena (Gingerich) Zehr who he married December 31, 1939. Beloved father of Karen and Merv Schlegel of RR 1, Tavistock. Cherished grandfather of Kristy and Dan Brenneman and Lindsay and Brett Zehr and great-grandfather of Callie and Avery Brenneman. Dear brother of Elizabeth Zehr, Elmer and Emily Zehr, Edward and Laurene Zehr, Dorothy and Lester Bechtel, and brother-in-law of Ruth Mayer and Viola Gingerich. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister, Ada and Oliver Yantzi, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eldon Wagler, Amos Zehr, Violet Zehr, Orval Lichty, John Worden, Elmina and Noah Brenneman, William Gingerich, Joseph and Ruth Gingerich and William Mayer. Relatives and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, today (Saturday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The interment will take place at 16th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery on Sunday, November 30, 2008, at 1 p.m. The funeral service will then take place at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden at 2:15 p.m. (please note time), with Pastor Ilene Bergen and Pastor Steve Drudge officiating.
