Frances F. Duncan, 81, of Newton, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Abernethy Laurels.

Born July 2, 1927, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Cora Boswell Coulter.

She is survived by her husband of more than 63 years, James D. Duncan Sr.; daughters, Sandra D. Sharpton and her husband, Ray, of Asheville, Deborah D. Guthrie of Hickory and Daphna D. Robinson and her husband, David, of Hickory; sons, J. David Duncan and his wife, Kathy, of Fort Mill, S.C., Douglas S. Duncan and his wife, Rosemarie, of Taylorsville, Kevin S. Duncan and his wife, Lisa, of Claremont, Darryl M. Duncan and his wife, Bernadette, of Lincolnton, Christopher D. Duncan and his wife, Melissa, of Hickory and Michael L. Duncan and his wife, Christina, of Maiden; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Magdalene "Binkie" Hester of North Augusta, S.C.

A Service of Remembrance will be held 110 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Chris Christopher and Weldon Sheets officiating.

Burial will follow the service in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
