OBIT:

W. G. His death was due to to an abscess of the middle ear, causing congestion of the brain.

Mr. Berry has been a long time resident of Eddyville and vicinity and has hosts of friends who will ever revere his memory, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to the relatives.

The funeral services were held from the Christian church Thursday afternoon, his former pastor and esteemed friend, B.W. Pettit of Albia, officiating. Interment was made at Highland cemetery.

OBIT 2:

W G Berry, the subject of this sketch, was the son of Samuel H. and Ellen Baines Berry, and was born in Mahaska county April 16th, 1845, and died March 22nd, 1922, aged 76 years, 11 months and 6 days.

He and Margaret Ann Miller were married January 4th, 1866. One son, Joseph Edgar, was born to them April 24th, 1867, and died April 3, 1868, and the mother and wife died December 15th, 1868.

He and Ruth Ann Hayes were married December 15th, 1870. To this union were born six sons and three daughters: Charles who died in infancy; George Nelson, John Wylie, Frank M., William O., James L., Enola May, wife of C.W. Odem, Hattie, wife of James Powell; and Ruth L., wife of Dr. J.W. Wray, all of whom are residents of Eddyville. Mrs. Ruth Ann Berry, wife and mother, died June 9th, 1912. There are eleven living grandchildren. One brother L.G. Berry of Marshalltown is the only surviving member of his immediate family.

He was married the third time to Lydia D. Gordon November 17th, 1915, who survives him. He enlisted in the 3rd Iowa Cavalry, Company K, February 16th, 1864, and was mustered out August 9th, 1865, at Atlanta Georgia. He was but eighteen year of age when he enlisted in the service of his country. He was a resident of Eddyville and surrounding vicinity the greater part of his life.

He united with the Church of Christ when a young man and was a faithful worker. He filled the office of elder in the church for many years and was a leader in all matters pertaining to the church. Mr. Berry was active in various lines of business. He has been a familiar figure for a great many years on the streets of Eddyville, and was highly respected as a citizen and friend of the better things of our town and community. Thus again we are called upon to give up an esteemed citizen, friend, neighbor and comrade. However, we shall not sorrow as those without hope. May God bless his memory to the ongoing of our community.
