Gladys Monroe, 99, of 210 S. Main St., Harrisburg, died 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home.
As per Mrs. Monroe's wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church immediately following the graveside services held 1 p.m. at Baker Cemetery. Arrangements are in the charge of Gaskins Funeral Home, Harrisburg.
She was born Dec. 10, 1908, in Brushy Township to Wes and Lydia (Galliher) Johnson. On Dec. 20, 1930, she married Ira Monroe, who preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1977.
She was a retired machine operator and a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Peg McKibbin of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Wanda Johnson of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
