She attended the Virginia State University (Petersburg, VA) and Virginia Union University (Richmond, VA). For a portion of her life, she lived in the state of Maryland. She was a former employee with the Walter Reed Veterans Medical Center, Washington D.C. She was a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Dinwiddie County, VA where she was a member of the ushers ministry and the adult ensemble.
