William Franklin (Buddy, Billy) Lipham was born September 12, 1855 and died October 25, 1889 in Tallapoosa, Carroll Co., GA. He was the eldest of nine children of John Monroe Lipham and Sarah Saphronia Davis. In 1874 he married Martha Sarah Etta (BABE) Vida Lee, also called Sally, who died of childbirth fever in 1875. She was the fourth child of 13 of Isham Bailey Lee (1818-1904) and Mary Alice Weathers (1832-1876).

In 1877, he married Mrs. Charlotte Stewart Merrill Reaves, with whom he had ten children, only five of which lived. In the fall of 1889, Buddy Lipham suffered an attack of measles, but one day thought he was well enough to go to the barn to feed stock in the rain; he subsequently died of pneumonia. He is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Harralson Co., near Tallapoosa, GA.

Sara Vida Lee Lipham is buried, along with her parents, in the New Lee Family Cemetery at the home of her brother Rev. Jesse Frank Lee near Rock Mills, Randolph Co., AL. Charlotte Lipham is buried in Bowdon Methodist Churchyard.

He has gone from his dear ones, his children, his wife,
Whom he willingly toiled for, and loved as his life.
O God! how mysterious and how strange are thy ways,
To take from us this loved one in the best of his days.
