PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Wilma Irene Dobson, 90, of Platteville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Orchard Manor, Lancaster.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at the United Methodist Church, Platteville, with the Rev. John Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Lima Union Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1917, in Lima Township., Grant County, daughter of William and Frankie Belle (Wagner) Beyer. She attended White School and Platteville High School.
She married Doris L. Dobson, of Lancaster, on Jan. 30, 1935; he preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1994, after 59 years of a happy wedded life. To this union, six children were born.
Doris and Wilma farmed until 1957, when she and her husband purchased what was known as Dobson's Grocery, Platteville. They owned and operated that for 15 years before buying a car wash in Lancaster and a small farm outside of Lancaster. After their retirement in 1980, they moved back to Platteville.
Wilma was a member of the United Methodist Church, Platteville.
Surviving are five children, Dale (Sharon) Dobson, of Potosi, Marcene (Monroe) Duncan, of Apple River, Ill., James (Ruth) Dobson, of Oshkosh, Linda (Duane) Hanusa, of Baraboo, and Lexa (Bob Holzer) Brodbeck, of Dubuque; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two dear nieces, Maxine Skjegstad and Betty VanNatta; and many good friends.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tom Doser; a brother, Leonard Buster Beyer; and a sister, Gladys Butson.
