Reginald Dale Barker, Sr
Born in Oakland, California on Apr. 2, 1957
Departed on Aug. 10, 2008 and resided in Elwood, UT.

Elwood, Utah – Reginald Dale Barker, Sr. was born in Oakland, California April 2, 1957. He was the much anticipated "first born" child of Fran and the late Woodrow Barker, Sr.

Reggie fulfilled all of their expectations by being the brightest, most outgoing and adventurous of their three children, not to mention being the one with the prettiest eyes. Reggie attended the Oakland public schools and graduated from Skyline High in 1975 where he met his "first live" Dora Ann Smith. From this union Reginald Jr. affectionately called "Spud" was born in 1982. He later went on to graduate from Stevens-Henager College with an Associates Degree.

Reggie worked in various jobs over the years but was most noted for his employment at Pacific Bell and Art Young's Debris Removal. Reggie was a "jack of all trades" and was the person everyone called on when they needed something repaired around the house. The only catch was you had to feed him. As we all know Reggie loved to eat and didn't mind cooking. He was always ready to go to a buffet and "eat them out of business" and later brag about being responsible for closing the place down.

He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bid whit, dominoes, shooting pool and especially watching his beloved Oakland Raiders.

Reggie had a wonderful ability to meet and talk to any and everyone. Reggie never met a stranger. When you were with Reggie you could count on him to start "messing with" who ever was around. For most of us this might have caused a problem but he could tease and tell a joke that would leave every one laughing. Reggie was a great storyteller. He would call you and start the story in such a serious manner that you believed it was the truth. It was only at the end of the story that you realized it was a joke after he burst out in laughter.

Reggie relocated to Utah several years ago to get away from the big city. He settled in the town of Tremonton to begin the kind of life which he had always dreamed. After he had planted roots there, he was fortunate to meet Krista Wells, devoted girlfriend and her daughter "Miss Bailee" and to have them join him in his new life.

Although Reggie was in poor health in recent months, he continued to enjoy life to the fullest. Even though he was a thousand miles away, he made daily phone calls to friends and family. He was most happy in recent weeks when "little Reggie" was able to visit him, allowing them to enjoy a period of much needed "father-son" time.

Reggie departed this life as a result of a one car automobile accident that occurred shortly after he crossed the Nevada state line in route to visit his family in California. He is survived by his loving partner, Krista Wells; a son, Reginald Barker, Jr., Step Daughter Bailee Wells; mother, Fran Barker; brother Virgil Dwayne Barker; and sisters Roxanne Barker, Naomi Mitchell, Leatta Postan, Evelyn Cavness. He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow; brother Woodrow Barker, Jr.; brother Charles Barker and sisters Joanne White and Helen Barker.

Funeral Services to be held Friday, August 15, 2008 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel, Piedmont, California Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Oakland, California. A Memorial Luncheon will be held at Peterson Park Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. Please bring your favorite salad or dessert o share in the celebration.
