Anne Tyler Fairleigh Brooks, 91, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Jefferson Place. She was a former kindergarten teacher in the Jefferson County Public School System and previously a director of the Second Presbyterian Church Weekday School. She was a founding member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Woman's Club of Louisville, Junior League, National Society of Colonial Dames of America, Filson Historical Society and Louisville Collegiate School Alumni Association. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Brooks, her daughter, Anne Tyler Brooks Stallings, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Anne Fister Vish.
Survivors include daughter, Marian Brooks Fister and son-in-law David Fister; her son, Charles Fairleigh Brooks and daughter-in-law Lisa B. Brooks; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a niece and six nephews. Her family would like to thank the staff at Jefferson Place for the loving care given to her over the last four years.
Visitation will be at Pearson's on Breckenridge Lane on Friday, from 3-7 p.m. On Saturday, a memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2501 Rudy Lane, followed by burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church.
