Mr. Coomer served in the Strategic Air Command of the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In October of 1967 he and his brother Jennings opened and operated the first Krispy Kreme Doughnut franchise in Upper East Tennessee. He actively managed the business until his death. Mr. Coomer was also owner of Seaver's Bakery in Johnson City. He was an avid golfer and loved jelly beans.
