Galbreath was 37 years old, a husband and father, when he vanished while making deliveries for Prairieland Processors, a meat processing plant in Winfield, Kansas. Two meat deliveries were made before Galbreath disappeared. The truck was found the next morning in Wichita with 250 boxes containing 15,000 pounds of processed-boxed beef missing. Evidence in the truck pointed toward Stan having been killed. The meat was the target, Galbreath happened to be the person driving the truck that day.

Stan graduated from Winfield High School where he played football. He leaves a wife and children. This case has never been solved. His body has never been found and he was declared legally dead in 1985.
